« послато: Јул 20, 2026, 09:33:38 поподне »
Greetings from from Sweden.
I apologize for any mistakes in the text because I use "Google Translate".

My interest in genealogy began after my teens.
By asking my mother and father and other relatives I have found out some information, but it seems that I have come to the end of the road.
I would appreciate any information that can help my family tree grow on my mothers side.

What I found out by talking to my mother and her relatives is the following:
My mothers family were from Kurjak, Lika.
She was born in march 1945 in the middle of the raging war in Europe (WW2).
It was still winter and she told me that her family hid in the forest to avoid genocide.

So I'll start as far back in time as I can go, with my mothers grandparents.

On my mothers father side - Đukić:
My mothers father was named Mile Đukić (1908-1966) and was born in Kurjak
He has was the youngest of the brothers.
Miles father was named Jovo Đukić
Miles mother was named Sara Đukić also born in Kurjak.
Unfortunately I don't have the maiden name of Sara.

The only thing I know about Jovo and Sara is that they had three boys and a girl:
Petar
Luka
Mile - my mothers father
Boja

At least these are the ones who survived childhood.
This is as far back in time as I can go on my mothers father side.

My mothers mother side - Radaković:
My mothers mother was named Sofija Radaković (1904-1973) and was born in Srednja Gora.
I was told that Sofia was the oldest of 9 brothers and 2 sisters.
These are the ones I know of:
Miloš
Božo
Jovo
Rade - moved to Belgrade
Ilija
Steva - Mile Đukić and Steva Radaković went to France to work, Steva Radaković moved to Tovarnik
Anđa - her younger sister married an officer, moved to Pančeo, had two children.
She returned to Lika, Srednja Gora, and married again.
I am not sure if he was the first or second husband, but his last name was Kljajić.

Sofijas mother was named Marija.
Unfortunately I don't have the maiden name of Marija.
Sofijas Father was named Josip, had 4 brothers that moved to America.
Unfortunately I don't have any names oft he brothers.
This is as far back in time as I can go on my mothers mothers side.

First they had Desa and Marko.
Then Mile Đukić went to France around 1930 with his wife's brother, Steva Radaković, to work.
During his time in France, he lived in Lyon, Marseille and Paris.
My mother told me that Mile worked in a gold mine, among other places.

Good evening,

Mother of my paternal grandfather (my great-grandmother) was Jeka Đukić from village Kurjak. She married to my great-grandfather Stevan Čanković in neighbouring village Srednja Gora, but they migrated to Podravska Slatina in Slavonia in 1938.
During 2WW they were refugees in Serbia, and in 1945. family returned to Slavonia.
