World War 1 - casualty list from MyHeritage website question
(1/1)
Michelle Batalo Mills:
Another Batalo question :D :
MyHeritage has free military records on their site from May 25-31. https://www.myheritage.com/research/record-10953-96664/pero-batalo-in-austria-hungary-world-war-i-casualty-lists I found this citation:
Name Pero Batalo
Birth 1893 Primislje, Slunj, Kroatien / Croatia
Casualty type Wounded
Casualty list Oct 21 1915
Rank Jäger
Unit Feldjägerbataillon 31
Subunit 5 K
List # 297
Page # 7
There is no document attached, only the citation. I looked for it on familysearch but couldn't find it. I also looked through Poreklo digital library for records from WW1 wounded or dead soldiers.
My questions:
1.) Can you recommend somewhere I can search for this document or record?
2.) Which army did this Batalo serve? Do I assume he already was conscripted to serve the Aus Hun empire so he fought for the Central Powers? Is that why he is listed in a record with Aus Hun language?
3.) Is Pero a variation of Petar or is Pero a Serbian name too?
Thank you for any insight.
