Waiting on Y-DNA change from M-253 to at least P-109/FGC22034.

My father (Constantin Munteanu) has taken the FTDNA Y-111 test and was reported as I-M253. Only after purchasing a SNP pack for I-M253 (which was around 100 USD on a sale) his haplogroup was changed to I-P109, and of course to I-PH3895 after purchasing the Big Y test. So, I don't think that the haplogroup for Mladen Barac will be changed by FTDNA without purchasing additional tests.

If FTDNA allows you to buy the I-P109 SNP pack for Mladen Barac without first buying the I-M253 SNP pack, then go for it. The resulting haplogroup will be beyond I-P109, but I doubt that it will go as far as I-FGC22045 or its branches. Anyway, it's better than the I-M253 SNP pack which will not go beyond I-P109.

I was getting a BETTER answer with Y-DNA 67, at least I-P109 haplogroup, don't give that I need a Y-DNA 700 to get a P109 or better.

What is it that you are asking about in that email?

When I did my kit# 177090 ydna 67 I was getting at least P109 haplogroup, and now when I did this Ydna 111 Im getting just M-253

P109 is not a haplogroup prediction provided by a base Y-STR test like the Y-67. If you had a more refined haplogroup before your Big Y, it likely would have come from the additional SNP testing that was ordered shortly after your Y-67 results initially posted.

So the most refined haplogroup of any ydna test less then Y-full700 will equal to I-M253?

There are alternative SNP tests that could refine the haplogroup further, the Big Y isn't the only option, but that is the most refined prediction that a base Y-STR test (such as the Y-67 or Y-111) will provide.

You had a Deep Clade test and a Genographic Project conversion after your Y-67 results posted; either could have affected your haplogroup, but neither is currently available today.

It looks like the P109 SNP is available as a standalone test for $39.
Or, yes, if you're able to find a SNP pack that covers the relevant branch(es), then that is an option as well.
